The SEA LIFE Trust Global Beach Clean has begun!

Kicking off this week on Monday with Merlin Entertainment's Poole UK HQ and the teams at Alton Towers Sharkbait Reef and SEA LIFE Kansas, it was the turn of SEA LIFE Benalmadena and the SEA LIFE Trust’s very own Cornish Seal Sanctuary today to do their clean-ups! There are over 60 beach and waterway clean-ups happening this week through to Sunday 11th July, from the Sunshine Coast to California and lots of places in-between.

The SEA LIFE Trust have organised their Global Beach Clean event this year following the success of the first clean-up event back in 2019. Trust Fundraising Manager Ali Corbett said: “The Global Beach Clean provides a simple and effective way in which everybody can start to help turn the tide on litter. It’s vital that everybody plays a role in reducing plastic waste entering the seas to help protect our marine creatures."

In the UK this year, the event is also supported by friends of the SEA LIFE Trust, NatWest. Having organised several clean-ups of their own to take place this week, NatWest staff will also be supporting at SEA LIFE led clean-ups.

Andrew Moore, Regional Director, NatWest Premier Banking, is on the bank’s Global Beach Clean organising team. He said: “We’re really excited about doing our bit to help clean-up beaches throughout the UK, and removing the litter and rubbish that has such a negative impact on our oceans and the marine life in them. The SEA LIFE Trust does such invaluable work protecting our oceans, which is why we’re proud to be supporting their work in this way.”
