SEA LIFE Trust Sanctuaries

The world’s first Sanctuary for beluga whales

In April 2018, thanks to a very generous donation from Merlin Entertainments, the SEA LIFE Trust started building a Beluga Whale Sanctuary in the Vestmannaeyjar islands off the coast of Iceland. A world first initiative, the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary will provide a home for two previously captive beluga whales, Little White and Little Grey from Chang Feng Ocean Park, Shanghai, China.

Cornish Seal Sanctuary

Ken Jones, the founder of the Cornish Seal Sanctuary rescued his first seal in 1958. The Sanctuary has been at its current site in Gweek in the UK since 1975 and the team there rescue, rehabilitate and release sick and injured seal pups from around the Cornish coastline. The 2017/2018 season was the busiest we have seen to date with over 80 pups going through our hospital.
